You have two ad preloading specific options you can enable for your Brid players:
- Preload ads
- Preload ad contents (deprecated)
The first Preload ad option will instruct the player to preload the VAST/VPAID XML template and thus prepare your ad content to be served faster. As these XML files are usually small in size, the impact of this option will most likely be small but when it comes to speed and ad display, every millisecond counts!
The second Preload ad contents option goes a step beyond the first option and the player goes through your entire tag or internal ad tag waterfall (most common in programmatic tags) and tries to preload the ad creative itself. There are certain situations where this is not possible but in most cases that we observed, the player was able to preload the ad creative without any issues.
The only drawback preloading ad contents is that the player will in most cases fire the impression pixel of the VPAID ad to successfully preload the ad creative so in some cases you may see a decrease in VCR (video completion rate) but you will definitely get a boost in fill rate.
Due to viewability and VCR being a major influence on publisher CPM's and fill rate, we have decided to deprecate this option due to the side effects of it when enabled.
