What is a Branded Canvas ad slot?

Our Branded Canvas slot is a very specific ad slot where you can utilize this innovative way to monetize your content in a totally different way. 

Similar to how advertisements are being done in the CTV/OTT space, we looked for a way to translate this to web and mobile. The results of this effort is our Branded Canvas ad slot that allows you to mimic the TV advertising experience on modern web and mobile devices.

In its essence, a Branded Canvas unit is a non-linear ad slot that resizes the player display area for a video to give way for an ad creative that appears in the bottom and left part of the player.

Unit dimensions and appearance

As you can see, the player will expect a creative in this specific size only. 

When it comes to trafficking, You can just create a 1280x720 creative in your ad server of choice with the format seen above, and traffic it through as any other display creative. It is important to make sure that all your branding and messages are contained in the "gray" area as see in the screenshot above.

Export your tag from your ad server of choice and just enter it as an ad tag inside the "Branded Canvas" ad slot on your player level.

Additional notes:

• Make sure that your ad creative adheres to the standards we have set when it comes to the size of the creative. Different unit sizes will most likely exhibit weird behavior. Make sure that all visible assets of your creative are located in the noted areas.
• This specific ad slot is made to behave as a non-linear advertisement. This means that you need to configure a start time (cue point(s)) and the duration of the advertisement. Make sure when creating this setup you do not overlap calls.
• Due to the nature of this ad slot, waterfalling is not supported and you cannot waterfall multiple branded canvas ad tags.
• If you have a player setup which contains linear ad assets (pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll) for display, the branded canvas slot will work alongside them. Make sure to not overlap for example mid-rolls with branded canvas ad slots for a better user experience.
• Branded canvas ad slots cannot be used as fallback behavior for standard linear ad slots like mid-rolls.
• Branded canvas ad creatives can contain interactive elements and any standard method for creating display banners will work with our branded canvas slot.
